'Frustrated students demonstrated due to Corona', Jinping said on Protest in China

After the demonstrations against the strict lockdown in China, relief has been given to the public, but Chinese President Xi Jinping has called these demonstrations against his strict zero Kovid policy as a demonstration of the students. According to a media report, Jinping told European Union President Charles Michel that these demonstrations were done by the students because they were frustrated after three years of the epidemic.

Jinping held talks with Michel in Beijing on Thursday. According to the South China Morning Post, a senior official told that Michel appealed to him for the use of the vaccine and questioned China’s official standards. Mitchell said the president has told them that after three years of covid they had an issue because people were depressed, be it mainly students or teenagers in university.

European officials say Xi’s comments during the meeting with Michel indicate he is open to further easing of the lockdown. According to the report, the Chinese leader has also said that the dominant Omicron strain is “less lethal”, although he expressed concern about vaccination of the elderly.

It is the first time Xi has commented on the public protests, which have reportedly rocked his government. After this, security has been increased in all the major cities of China. During this, Michel shared his experiences regarding the vaccination in Europe.

Apart from the elderly, the vaccination percentage is good: China

Xi told that except for the elderly in China, the percentage of vaccination is very good. Official figures show that in China, only 68.7 percent of people over the age of 60 have taken three doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. For those age 80 and older, only 40.4 percent received a booster dose.

License not given to European vaccine

China has not yet licensed Western vaccines for use by the general public, but during a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz last month, Xi indicated that foreigners living in the country would be approved to take the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine. will be given.
