Gangster Vikas Dubey killed in encounter, says UP Authorities

Vikas Dubey, the history-sheeter implicated of shooting dead 8 police officers in Kanpur’s Bikru village recently, was on Friday morning eliminated in a supposed exchange of fire while being brought to Uttar Pradesh from Ujjain, the U.P. authorities said.

Dubey was shot two times after he allegedly tried to get away from authorities custody after firing at the cops team, a couple of kilometres ahead of Kanpur, police said. Nevertheless, a medical report is still awaited.

Dubey was being escorted to Kanpur from Ujjain, where he was detained 24 hours previously near a temple, when one of the police vehicles overturned near Bhaunti, stated cops. The accused and the cops got hurt in the accident, they added.

Kanpur SP (West) Anil Kumar said Dubey benefited from the roadway accident and attempted to get away after nabbing a handgun of an injured cop. “The cops surrounded him from all 4 sides and tried to make him surrender, however he fired at them. In self-defence, cops fired 2 bullets [at Dubey], injuring him,” said Mr. Kumar.
