Farmers have suspended their agitation under the leadership of farmer leader Bachchu Kadu. The agitation has been postponed after receiving assurance from the Maharashtra government. Meanwhile, the Fadnavis government of Maharashtra has taken a big decision.
The Maharashtra government has announced the formation of a high-level committee to solve the recurring debt problem of farmers.
This committee will be headed by Praveen Pardeshi, Principal Economic Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chief Executive Officer of MITRA. This committee has been entrusted with the task of suggesting short-term and long-term solutions within six months.

On the issue of loan waiver of farmers, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the decision on loan waiver of farmers will be taken by June 30 next year.
The move is a sign that the government is acknowledging that previous loan waiver schemes such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Shetkari Sanman Yojana (2017) and Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Shetkari Karjmukti Yojana have failed to provide permanent solutions to farmers’ problems.
The objective of the committee is to study the revolutionary changes required to bring stability in the agriculture sector, so that farmers can be freed forever from the cycle of outstanding loans arising due to natural disasters.

Bachchu Kadu, who is known for his aggressive attitude, is counted among the most popular leaders among farmers and disabled people in Maharashtra. Bachchu Kadu was MLA for four consecutive terms from 2004 to 2019. In the 2024 elections, BJP candidate defeated Bachchu Kadu and made lotus bloom in Achalpur.
