With 30 community locations accounting for almost 80%of the nation’s COVID-19 cases, the Union Health Ministry on Saturday asked States and Union Territories to focus not just on containment zones but also buffer zones around them to break the chain of transmission.
Health Secretary Preeti Sudan held a high level evaluation with the Principal Health Secretaries, Community Commissioners and other authorities from these locations. “These 30 community locations are from States/UTs including Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Odisha,” a Health Ministry release said.
Keeping high caution and monitoring locations of old cities, metropolitan run-down neighborhoods and other high density pockets together with the camps for migrant employees are essential, the release stated.
