The Solidarity Trial will evaluate four various drugs or mixes
India is all set to join World Health Organisation’s “Uniformity trial” targeted at rapid worldwide search for drugs to treat COVID-19 The country has stayed away up until now from this multi-country trial “due to its small sample size and since our contribution would have looked tiny,” stated Head of Public health and Contagious diseases at Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) R. Gangakhedkar on Friday.
The Uniformity Trial will test 4 different drugs or combinations– remdesivir, a mix of 2 drugs, lopinavir and ritonavir, the 2 drugs plus interferon beta, and chloroquine– and will compare their effectiveness to what is called requirement of care, the routine support medical facilities treating COVID-19 patients utilize now.
