‘ Above normal rain likely in August and September’

India will likely have a typical monsoon, with a chance of ‘above normal’ rain in August and September, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated on Wednesday.

The IMD concerns a two-stage projection: the very first in April, followed by a more in-depth one in the last week of May, which will likewise show how the monsoon will spread over the country.

The IMD’s confidence stems mostly from international weather condition designs pointing to minimal chances of El Nino, a warming of the main equatorial Pacific that’s associated with the drying up of monsoon rain.
