Defending champions India dismissed Pakistan for 172 in the first semi-final of the Under-19 World Cup on Tuesday. For Pakistan, skipper Rohail Nazir (62) and opener Haider Ali (56) cracked half-centuries but the rest of the batsmen found the going tough. Ali’s 77-ball 56 contained nine hits to the fence, while Nazir smashed six boundaries in his 102-ball 62. For India, Sushant Mishra (3/28) took three wickets, while Ravi Bishnoi (2/46) and Kartik Tyagi (2/32) snapped two each. Spinners Atharva Ankolekar (1/29) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (1/11) also chipped in one wicket each.

The pitch was quite good, it was bouncy and quick. I was backing my strengths; the short balls are my strength and I used them effectively. We do quite a lot of fielding sessions when we don’t have matches, so it was a great effort from Saxena. Our coaches say that if you try, it will stick.
