Union Power Minister R.K. Singh on Friday stated India will not import power devices from China, saying the sector, being tactical and essential, was susceptible to cyberattacks.
At a virtual conference with the States, the Minister said devices imports from China and Pakistan would not be permitted.
Highlighting the requirement for self-reliance in the sector, Mr. Singh said the nation’s power equipment import expense was about71,000 crore throughout 2018-19, including purchases worth over20,000 crore from China, even when the country had producing centers.
