Indian doctors have said the reported success of dexamethasone– a low-cost steroid that retails for less than10 for 10 ml and is made by numerous Indian manufacturers– at treating COVID-19 clients on ventilators is excellent news for India.
Scientists administering the WHO-administered RECOVERY trial– the largest worldwide scientific trial– that is checking the ability of numerous re-purposed drugs to deal with COVID-19, reported on Tuesday that dexamethasone reduced deaths by one-third in ventilated patients and by one-fifth in other patients getting oxygen only.
