After being elected as the leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) on October 4 and later becoming the first female Prime Minister of Japan, Sanae Takaichi’s catchphrase of “work, work, work, work” is all over the internet.
She made this remark after winning the leadership of the Liberal Democratic Party and said that she would “work, work, work, work” on behalf of her country. This phrase clearly struck a chord, even more than Donald Trump’s tariffs.

Work-life balance
She became the first ever female Prime Minister of Japan beating about two dozen other candidates. Stating and clarifying that she will abandon the life-work balance in her own life gained criticism for the statement, “I will have everyone work like a horse,” Takaichi told her fellow LDP lawyers and workers.
Lawyers victims of karoshi, or death from overwork described the statement as unhelpful and posing a burden on the workers despite overlooking their personal sector.
