A grenade attack took place in Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, on Sunday. The attack took place in the Sunday market near the TRC office in main Srinagar. The crowd at the Sunday market was hit by the blast, in which 10 people were reported injured. A day earlier, there had been an encounter between the army and terrorists in Khanyar in which a terrorist was killed by the security forces. Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah has condemned the grenade attack on Srinagar’s TRC and Sunday market. He said that targeting civilians is not appropriate.
Second consecutive day of terrorist activity
According to top police sources, the grenade was thrown from the flyover near Radio Kashmir Crossing, which hit the crowd of shoppers in the busy Sunday market. The names of 10 people injured in the grenade attack are Misba, Azaan Kalu, Habibullah Rather, Altaf Ahmed Seer, Faizal Ahmed, Ur Farooq, Faizan Mushtaq, Zahid, Ghulam Muhammad Sofi and Sumaiya Jaan. Terrorist activity was witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir for the second consecutive day on Saturday.

Lashkar commander killed in encounter
A senior police officer said the LeT commander, identified as Usman, was active in the Kashmir Valley for a decade and was also involved in the murder of Inspector Masroor Wani. In October last year, Masroor Wani was shot dead from close range while playing cricket at the Idgah ground.
4 security forces personnel also injured
The officer said that Usman was active in the valley for a decade and was involved in many attacks. His killing is a big blow to Lashkar in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that Usman was the most senior Pakistani Lashkar commander here.
Four security forces personnel have also been injured in the Srinagar encounter. Security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in the densely populated Khanyar area of the inner city after receiving information about the presence of terrorists in the area.

The central government has complete law and order and security arrangements. We demand strict action.
