The plane crash in Pokhara, Nepal has given never ending pain to many families. The family of a Christian priest from Kerala, who was already mourning the death of the priest, has been shocked by the incident. Three close friends of this family were killed in the Yeti Airlines plane crash. The three friends, along with two more people, had come to attend the funeral at Anikadu near Pathanamthitta in Kerala on Friday. After this, the three friends died in an air crash while returning home.
Raju Thakuri, Rabin Hamal and Anil Sahi had come to Kerala to attend the funeral of Pastor Mathew Philip. Philip was a Christian missionary who spent 45 years in Nepal. He returned to Kerala two years ago after suffering from cancer and was undergoing treatment there. But on January 11, Philip died at the age of 76. Apart from the three friends, Sharan Shai and Suman Thapa also went to Kerala to attend his last rites. These people considered Philip like a father.
Philip’s brother Thomas said in a conversation with the news agency PTI, ‘The funeral was on 13 January. His flight was from Kochi to Mumbai and from there to Kathmandu. Two people stayed back in Mumbai but three people took a flight to Kathmandu. The news of his death was a big blow for us.

Philip’s grandson Joel Mathew said that as soon as he got information about the plane crash, he immediately checked the passenger list of the plane. Then he came to know that three close friends of his family were on that plane.
Joel told that he immediately called the remaining two people. They told that they have been asked to identify the bodies of their three friends. But everything has been burnt to ashes, it is impossible to identify any person aboard the plane.
Four friends of Uttar Pradesh also lost their lives
Four people from Uttar Pradesh who were residents of Ghazipur district have lost their lives in the plane crash. The four friends had gone to visit the Pashupatinath temple in Nepal. Sonu Jaiswal had gone for darshan with friends after fulfilling his vow but could not return home again. He has two daughters. He had vowed that if he had a son, he would go to the Pashupatinath temple and worship. After fulfilling his vow, he went for darshan where he lost his life in a plane crash. His son is just 18 months old.
Deadliest plane crash in 30 years
The plane crash in Nepal’s Pokhara on Sunday has proved to be the deadliest plane crash in the country’s 30-year history. There were 72 people including 68 passengers and 4 crew members in the aircraft. Shortly before landing, the 9N-ANC ATR-72 aircraft of Yeti Airlines crashed on the banks of the Seti River.
Several videos related to the plane crash have surfaced on social media, in which it can be seen that the plane lost its speed and path in the sky, after which it caught fire. Immediately the plane fell on the ground and started burning in smoke. Eyewitnesses say that they were hearing the sound of people screaming and shouting from inside the plane, but even if they wanted to, they could not go near the burning plane.
Fifteen foreign nationals were on board, including five Indians, four Russians, two Koreans, one Australian, one French, one Argentine and one Israeli.
