NEW DELHI: To tackle the outbreak of coronavirus in an effective and structured manner, the Union ministry of health and household welfare has actually classified country’s districts in three zones – Red, Orange and Green– based on the seriousness of break out in those areas.

A look at what these three categorisations mean–

Red zone

The Centre has called hotspot districts as Red Zone as it needs to have focused attention in these locations reporting a large number of Covid-19 cases and high development rate. The health ministry has classified 170 hotspot districts under the ‘Red Zone’. This is further divided into 2 groups i.e. there are 123 hotspot districts with a large outbreak and 47 hotspot districts with clusters.

The federal government will try to offer door-to-door facilities in these locations.
