The first season of Women’s Indian Premier League (WIPL) is coming soon. An auction will be held for this in the next month i.e. February. During this, money will rain heavily in the women’s IPL as well as in the men’s IPL. Women players are also going to be rich now. But this tournament is going to be different from the men’s IPL.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet released the schedule of the Women’s IPL, but if reports are to be believed, this tournament can be held from March 4 to 26 this year. Before this, there is also an auction of players and teams regarding the women’s IPL.
Players purse will increase every year in women’s IPL

The players’ purse in the women’s IPL will be Rs 12 crore in the first season. It will increase gradually every year, which will become Rs 18 crore after 5 years. In the second season, the players’ purse will increase from Rs 12 crore to Rs 13.5 crore. After this, it will be Rs 15 crore in the 2025 season. In the 2026 season, this players purse will increase to Rs 16.5 crore. While finally in the fifth year i.e. 2027, this purse will increase to Rs 18 crore.
Women’s IPL will be slightly different from men’s IPL
There are 10 teams in the men’s IPL, while there will be only 5 teams in the first three seasons of the women’s IPL. After this there will be a team’s entry in it. Then there will be a total of 6 teams.
In the men’s IPL, there is a rule to field only 4 foreign players in the playing-11, whereas in the women’s IPL, 5 foreign players can be given a chance in the playing-11.
There is also a rule in the Women’s IPL that out of 5 foreign players playing in the playing-11, one must be a player from an associate country.
Champion team will get Rs 6 crore
There is a possibility of 22 matches in the first season. All these matches can be held at Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. Wankhede Stadium will be kept fresh for men’s IPL. This tournament is likely to be held from March 31 to April 1. Let us tell you that BCCI has recently sold the media rights of Women’s IPL to Viacom 18 for Rs 950 crore.
In the women’s IPL, Rs 10 crore has been fixed as prize money for the players. While the champion team will get Rs 6 crore and the runner-up team will get Rs 3 crore. One crore rupees will be given to the third-placed team.
4000 crores will be earned from the auction of teams!
The auction of five teams of Women’s IPL (WIPL) is going to be held on Wednesday, due to which BCCI is expected to earn at least Rs 4000 crore. According to experts, each team is expected to be sold for Rs 500 to 600 crores in the closed bid auction of the teams. More than 30 companies have bought bid documents for Rs 5 crore to buy WIPL teams. These also include 10 companies that own the men’s IPL teams.
Adani Group, Torrent Group, Haldiram Prabhuji, Capri Global, Kotak and Aditya Birla Group have also shown interest in buying the teams. Also, among the IPL teams, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders can show more interest in buying the team.
