The airports located here are at such places where people’s breath stops during landing. All these airports of Nepal are located at such a height that people get scared just by thinking about them.

Nepal is a country surrounded by hills from all sides. There are many facilities available in some airports here. But there are also some airports which are located in rural areas and no facilities of any kind are available. Due to bad weather conditions in these airports, flying and landing prove to be extremely dangerous. Due to which only experienced and highly qualified pilots are allowed to fly in these areas.

Today we are going to tell you about some such airports of Nepal which are quite dangerous. All these airports are located at a very high altitude, as well as their runways are also very short, due to which taking off and landing from here proves to be very challenging.

Lukla AirportLukla is considered to be the most dangerous airport not only in Nepal but also in the world. Lukla Airport is also known as Tenzing Hillary Airport. Due to being very dangerous, it is also a very famous airport. This airport is located closest to Mount Everest. In such a situation, people who want to reach Mount Everest without trekking can reach the Himalayas directly from this airport. Daily flights operate from this airport to Kathmandu. But in case of bad weather, cloudy or too much wind, this airport is closed in view of security and all flights are cancelled. There is a 600 meter deep moat around this runway.

Simikot Airport (Humla Airport)- Simikot Airport is the only airport in Nepal that is not connected to the National Road Network. The airport is located at an altitude of 4,300 meters (14,100 ft) and serves as an entry point for people traveling to Dolpa district in western Nepal. Due to being away from any major city or town, it is considered one of the most dangerous airports in Nepal. This airport is also known as Humla Airport. Very few facilities are available at this airport.

Talcha Airport (Mugu Airport)- Talcha Airport is one of the most dangerous airports in Nepal located in Rara National Park in Mugu district in Nepal. This airport is located at an altitude of 2,735 meters and snow is lying here most of the time, due to which there is a danger of aircraft slipping, engine shutdown in cold as well as many other types of accidents during flight.

Mustang Airport– Mustang Airport is also considered one of the dangerous airports of Nepal. This airport is also known as Jomjom Airport. The airport is the gateway to the Mustang district which includes Jomsom, Kagbeni, Tangbe, Lo Manthang and Muktinath Temple (a popular pilgrimage center for Nepalese and Indians). It is situated at an altitude of 2,736 meters (8,976 ft) above sea level. Flights fly daily from this airport when the weather is clear, but due to change in weather and strong winds, this airport is closed and flights are delayed. In the morning, very strong wind blows in this entire area. Apart from this, the visibility in this airport is very less throughout the year.

Dolpa Airport- Dolpa Airport, also known as Jufal Airport, is one of the most dangerous airports in Nepal. This airport is situated at an altitude of 2,499 meters (8,200 ft). This airport is in Dolpa district of Nepal.

pokhara airport (pc: taja.post)

Pokhara Airport- Pokhara airport is also considered to be the most dangerous airport in Nepal. This airport has been opened on 1 January 2023 this year. A big plane has happened on Sunday 15 January 2023 near Pokhara Airport. According to the information, the ATR-72 aircraft of Yeti Airlines had flown from Kathmandu to Pokhara. There were 68 passengers and four crew members, ie a total of 72 people in this 72 seater aircraft. The plane had reached near Pokhara that it crashed just 10 seconds before landing. According to Nepali media, the accident happened between Pokhara’s old domestic airport and Pokhara International Airport.
