Cases of negligence in construction and repair of roads often come to light across the country. A video of Delhi-Vadodara Expressway in Alwar went viral on social media, in which a car running on the expressway is seen jumping in the air due to imperfections in the road. After the video surfaced, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways took action, sacked the engineer and imposed a fine of Rs 50 lakh on the contractor.
In this matter, NHAI said that as per the instructions of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, the matter has been investigated and strict action has been taken against the responsible officers/agencies.
NHAI said that a fine of Rs 50 lakh has been imposed on the contractor for not correcting the defects in time. Besides, the team leader-cum-resident engineer of the authority engineer has been dismissed for not taking proper care of the construction work and being negligent in his work. Apart from this, the concerned site engineer has also been terminated.

IIT had investigated
Some time ago, in view of the increasing number of accidents on the expressway, the reasons for the accidents were investigated by IIT. On the other hand, NHAI also started online challan process to stop the speeding of vehicles. People are driving at a speed of 280 kilometers per hour on the expressway, whereas the maximum limit on the expressway is 120 kilometers per hour.
Now action has been taken on the viral video on Delhi-Vadodara Expressway. This incident is being reported from Alwar region. In this, the speeding vehicle suddenly jumped in the air from behind due to poor balancing of the road and kept jumping in the air for some time.
What did NHAI officials say?
PK Kaushik, PD of Sohna area of Delhi Mumbai Expressway, said that potholes occur due to rain. As soon as information about potholes is received. Potholes are repaired immediately. It is raining continuously in Alwar region. Work to repair the potholes is going on.
