People are kneeling down and taking a dip in the Sangam, the water level of the Ganges is decreasing rapidly

Due to the intense heat in the northern part of the country, rivers, streams, ponds and water springs are drying up, and the water level in major rivers has also gone down. The condition of the Ganga river in the Sangam city of Prayagraj is also similar. Apart from Kumbh and Magh Mela, devotees from all over the country come here throughout the year and take a holy dip in the Ganga and pray for salvation. Now the place designated for the devotees to take a bath on the banks of the Sangam does not have enough water to take a dip.

The situation is such that the devotees who come to Sangam to take a bath are taking a bath sitting on their knees or lying down. Due to this decrease in the water level of Ganga, the devotees are getting disappointed. Especially those devotees who had come to Sangam from hundreds of kilometers away with the desire to take a holy bath. But Ganga is the center of faith. Everyone is doing puja after taking a bath in Sangam, but is also saddened by this decreasing water level.

Experts are giving serious warning
Environmental experts are extremely worried about the weakening of the flow of the Ganga. They are saying that this is the result of melting of glaciers and tampering with the environment. According to environmentalist Professor S Siddiqui, due to the temperature and indiscriminate cutting of trees, glaciers and snow mountains are vanishing, which are the basis of rivers like Ganga and if we do not wake up in time, the day is not far when the only living goddess Ganga will also become extinct.

Dam on Ganga is a threat to existence
Prof. Siddiqui said that due to the dams and projects built on the Ganga, the flow of the Ganga is no longer the same as before, but by messing with the environment and nature, we will destroy everything. Not only this, Prof. Siddiqui also says that this also happens due to weather changes and such things are also seen in the month of June.

It is important to pay attention to the water level on the banks of the Kumbh Mela
Kumbh Mela is to be organized in 2025 on the banks of Sangam in Prayagraj, UP, for which the government has allocated a budget of thousands of crores of rupees and major development work is going on continuously. But if Ganga does not exist, then neither Kumbh nor Magh Mela will be organized. Ganga will remain only in our memories. Therefore, everyone should pay attention to the decreasing water level.

The water level is decreasing by 2 centimetres every day
Here, the water level of Ganga in Varanasi is decreasing at the rate of 1 centimeter to 2 centimeter per day. The situation is such that if the water level of Ganga goes down by 3 feet, then the pumping stations located on the banks of Ganga which draw water from Ganga and supply it to half of Banaras will stop working and there will be a water crisis in Banaras. Understanding the signs of this water disaster before Ganga Dussehra on 16th June, Jalkal, Nagar Nigam and District Administration have even written a letter to release water from Ramganga Barrage in Kanpur.

Ganga has just reached its lowest level of last year
Just in the second week of June, the water level of Ganga has reached last year’s minimum of 189 feet. If the water level of Ganga goes down by 2-3 feet i.e. to 186 feet, then the pumping stations of Jalkal located on the banks of Ganga will be unable to draw water from Ganga. Then the water crisis will deepen in almost half of Banaras.

Letter written to release water from Ramganga Barrage
General Manager of Varanasi Jalkal VN Maurya said that in 2022, during the summer of this month, the water level of Varanasi was 193 feet. Last time it was 189 feet by 15 June and at present it has become 189 feet. If the water level of Ganga goes down by two-three feet even less than this, then there will be problem in pumping water from the pumping station installed on the banks of Ganga. A letter has been written to the Chief Engineer Ramganga Irrigation Department Kanpur Barrage regarding this.
