The police have arrested a former BSP MLA on charges of electricity theft in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. The police of Mansoorpur police station on Thursday arrested former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Shahnawaz Rana from Bijnor and presented him in the court. This arrest has been made in a case of electricity theft registered in 2011 and the matter is in the court.
According to the information, in the year 2011, the Electricity Department had caught a case of electricity theft in the steel factory of Shahnawaz Rana. The Electricity Department had filed a case against him on this. In this case, Shahnawaz Rana remained continuously absent from the court, after which the court had issued a non-bailable warrant against him.
Police arrested him on Thursday and presented him in court after medical test. The court granted him bail on two personal bonds of Rs 25,000 each and directed him to appear in the court on December 6.
