In a success for the erstwhile Travancore royal household, the Supreme Court on Monday held that its members’ shebaitship (right to handle the divine being’s home) at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple endured on the death of the ruler as per custom-made. The committee, which will have Hindus as members, will choose on the opening of Kallara B.
With this, the court has dismissed arguments that covenants carried out by the erstwhile Travancore king have “no presence and are “not enforceable”.
