A big scam of more than Rs 11 crore has come to light in the mid-day meal scheme in Balrampur. FIR was registered against District Coordinator Firoz Ahmed Khan and 44 others. Investigation found that the budget was grabbed by showing fake number of students in many schools and madrassas. The police have started investigating the matter and there is a stir in the education department.

A big scam has been revealed in the mid-day meal scheme in Balrampur district of Uttar Pradesh. On the complaint of Basic Education Officer (BSA), a case has been registered against 44 people including the District Coordinator in Kotwali police station. The scam is said to be worth more than Rs 11 crore.

District coordinator named as mastermind
According to the FIR, Mid-Day Meal District Coordinator Firoz Ahmed Khan is the main accused in this scam. It is alleged that he released the mid-day meal budget by fraudulently increasing the number of students in schools and embezzled crores of rupees.

Principals of madrassa and council schools also included
A total of 44 people have been named in the FIR, including the headmaster of three madrassas, five village heads and headmasters of five council schools. Investigation revealed that many madrassas and schools did not have students, yet funds were embezzled by issuing fake budgets in their names.

Serious evidence found in investigation
Investigation conducted by BSA revealed that the actual number of students in many schools and madrassas was very less, but lakhs of rupees were being withdrawn every month by showing the number many times higher in the documents.

Police started investigation
After the FIR registered on the complaint of BSA, Balrampur police has started investigating the matter. Police officials say that this is a big financial scam and strict action will be taken against everyone involved in it. After this scam was exposed, there is a stir in the education department.
