In view of the continuously increasing AQI in Delhi, CAQM has implemented GRAP Stage-IV restrictions in the entire NCR region including Delhi. These restrictions will come into effect from 8 am on Monday, November 18, 2024. According to the daily AQI bulletin, Delhi’s daily average AQI was recorded at 441 at 4 pm today. By the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) which increased to 457 at 7 pm today. Along with this, CM Atishi has directed all the schools in Delhi except classes 10th and 12th to run online classes.

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Sunday convened an emergency meeting of the sub-committee to operationalize the Graded Response Action Plan in NCR and adjoining areas, in which the sub-committee reviewed the overall air quality scenario in the region as well as the meteorological situation. Online classes will run in Delhi

Delhi’s AQI reached 452

According to the data provided by IMD/IITM during the meeting, the average AQI of Delhi was recorded at 441 at 4 pm today, which continued to increase till 6 pm and reached 452 at 7 pm.

At the same time, keeping in mind the current trend of deteriorating air quality of NCR, an effort is being made that to prevent further deterioration in the air quality in the region, the sub-committee this evening will announce Grape Stage-IV in the entire NCR including Delhi. Has announced the imposition of restrictions. These restrictions will come into effect from 8 am on Monday.

These restrictions will apply

  • There will be a complete ban on entry of trucks in Delhi. However, all LNG, CNG, electric, BS6 diesel trucks providing essential services will be allowed to enter Delhi.
  • Do not allow LCVs registered outside Delhi other than electric vehicles CNG, BS-VI, Diesel. Apart from vehicles carrying essential commodities, no other vehicle will be allowed entry into Delhi.
  • Diesel-powered medium commercial vehicles (MGV) and heavy commercial vehicles (HGV) registered in Delhi will also not be allowed to enter the city if they are registered as per BS-IV standards or below. However, there will be exemption in entry of these vehicles during transportation of essential goods or services.
  • Like Grape-3, restrictions will remain in force on the construction work of ongoing projects for highways, roads, flyovers, overbridges, power transmission, pipelines, telecommunication etc.
  • The state government of Delhi and NCR should allow government, municipal and private offices to work at 50% capacity and the rest to work from home.
  • The central government can decide to make its employees work from home.
  • State governments may consider additional emergency measures, including closure of college educational institutions and closure of non-emergency commercial activities, allowing vehicles to run on odd-even basis based on registered numbers.
  • The Pollution Board has advised children, elderly and people suffering from serious diseases like respiratory and heart diseases to avoid outdoor activities.

According to CPCB, AQI between zero and 50 is ‘good’, between 51 and 100 is ‘satisfactory’, between 101 and 200 is ‘moderate’, between 201 and 300 is ‘poor’, between 301 and 400 is ‘moderate’. ‘Very bad’, between 401 and 450 ‘severe’ and above 450 Considered ‘more than serious’.
