The Supreme Court on Tuesday offered the Kamal Nath federal government time till 10.30 a.m. on March 18 to respond to a petition filed by previous Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and nine other BJP MLAs looking for a vote of self-confidence to be held on the flooring of the Legal Assembly against the Congress ruling dispensation in the State.
A Bench of Justices D.Y. Chandrachud and Hemant Gupta said the “seriousness” of the circumstance required a hearing on March 18 itself.
” We will have to release notification. The proper thing would be to provide a short notification and keep it for tomorrow,” Justice Chandrachud orally addressed senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi for Mr. Chouhan and 9 other MLAs.
” Concern notification in view of the seriousness of the situation and notice is returnable at 10.30 am at March18 Liberty to serve the notification through e-mail,” the Supreme Court ordered.
