Actually, during a campaign in the year 2007, Shilpa Shetty was publicly kissed by Hollywood actor Richard Gere, after which there was a lot of ruckus.
There were also three FIRs against Shilpa in this case. Shilpa petitioned the Bombay High Court in 2022, seeking quashing of one of these FIRs. Now the court has sought answers from the Maharashtra government and the respondent on this petition. In the petition filed by Shilpi, she had demanded the government and the respondent to quash the FIR on the kissing incident which took place in the year 2007. But they did not get any answer on this. Nor was the FIR quashed.
What was the matter?
In the year 2007, in April, Shilpa Shetty was involved in an awareness campaign. Here the actress was escorting Gere on stage when the Hollywood star shook her hand, hugged her and then kissed her. People did not like him kissing like this in public. There was a lot of ruckus on this incident. Shilpa Shetty had also come in a lot of controversy. FIR was lodged against Shilpa Shetty in Jaipur, Alwar and Ghaziabad.

In the year 2011, Shilpa Shetty had filed an application in the Supreme Court that all the three cases should be transferred to Mumbai together. Two of these complaints were transferred to Mumbai. In one of the two complaints, Shilpa got relief, but in the other the court refused, saying that it was a trial case. There is no scope of getting relief in this. In such a situation, Shilpa Shetty appealed to the High Court to cancel this FIR. The Bombay High Court has now sought answers from the Government of Maharashtra and the Respondent on this matter. Shilpa Shetty’s lawyer said that the government and the respondent will have to reply in four weeks.
