Tortured for years for dowry, wife left home, then gave triple talaq on WhatsApp
After dowry harassment in Basera village of Muzaffarnagar, the husband gave triple talaq to his wife on WhatsApp. On the complaint of victim Asma, a case was registered against husband Hasan, mother-in-law and two brothers-in-law under Dowry Prohibition Act and Muslim Women Protection of Marriage Rights Act, 2019. Police is busy searching for the accused.

A case of triple talaq through message has come to light in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. A case has been registered against a man and his family members for illegally giving triple talaq to his wife on WhatsApp after harassing her for dowry. Officials gave this information on Monday. A senior official said that this incident happened in Basera village.
Circle Officer (CO) Ravi Shankar said that an FIR was registered on Sunday based on the complaint lodged by the victim Asma against her husband Hasan, mother-in-law Rashida and two brothers-in-law Salim and Shakir. According to the complaint, Asma married Hasan in November 2017. She alleged that she was continuously harassed for dowry and later she went to live with her parents.
She claimed that on March 31, 2025, her husband had allegedly sent her a message on WhatsApp illegally giving triple talaq. A case has been registered under sections of the Dowry Prohibition Act and Muslim Women (Protection of Marriage Rights) Act, 2019. The CO said that the police is searching for the accused. Under this law, instant triple talaq has been banned.
