The Donald Trump administration has now canceled the ability to give admission to foreign students at the famous Harvard University. Homeland Security Secretary Christie NoM has ordered the department to abolish the Student and Exchange Visitor Program Certification of Harvard University. The administration says that it is using its right to give the university admission to international students. At the same time, the university administration has criticized the government’s move.

The Homeland Security Secretary wrote in its letter, ‘I am informing you that with immediate effect, the Student and Exchange Visitor Program Certification (SEVP) of Harvard University is being canceled.

Harvard called it ‘illegal’

At the same time, Harvard University has strongly criticized this decision of the US Homeland Security Department. In an official statement, the university termed the move as an eligible and has rejected the government’s allegations. At the same time, the university said that it will continue to support its international students in 140 countries.

According to university data, Harvard nominated around 6,800 international students in 2024-2025 years, which is 27% of her total enrollment.

Harvard also indicated that he could file a second legal case against the government for this action. Earlier, the university had filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration last month against its curriculum, admission processes and efforts to change the appointment policies.

The action took place three weeks after Harvard submitted disciplinary records of foreign students requested by the Trump administration in mid -April. The university administration has refused to disclose which data was shared with the agency.

Apart from this, on 16 April, the Homeland Security Department first sent a letter to Harvard, which was asked to give information about the university’s activity in the campus, including participation in protests. Nom had threatened that if Harvard did not do so, he would withdraw his SEVP certification back to certification.
