WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has replaced his campaign manager after polls showed him falling further behind Democratic challenger Joe Biden in the race for the White House amid growing ridicule for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
In a continuing slide for his re-election prospects, Trump is now 15 points behind Biden (52-37) among registered voters, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released Wednesday. It is Biden’s biggest lead since surveys began for the November 3 Presidential election; various other polls show Biden leading by 8 to 11 points.
The immediate fallout was the firing of Trump’s campaign manager Brad Parscale and the promotion of his deputy Bill Stepien, although the President softened the blow by saying “Parscale, who has been with me for a very long time and has led our tremendous digital and data strategies, will remain in that role, while being a Senior Advisor to the campaign.”
