The Etawah police of Uttar Pradesh have got a big success. From where on Monday, the police arrested three people seizing hemp worth Rs 25 lakh. A police officer gave this information to a news agency. Senior Superintendent of Police of Etawah Sanjay Kumar Verma said that when a truck was gestured to stop at Pattapura Ayara Pulia of Basrehar police station area on Monday, two people jumped from the truck and started running away.
After this, the police team caught the truck and took others including the driver into custody. At the same time, after searching the vehicle, 112.360 kg of hemp was recovered in five plastic bags hidden in the truck. The SSP said that the arrested smugglers have been identified as Sonu Chauhan, truck owner Tej Pratap Singh Chauhan alias Ashish Chauhan and truck driver Ranjit Singh.

Verma said that 12 criminal cases have been registered against Sonu Chauhan in various police stations of Etawah and Auraiya and four cases against Ranjit Singh. Further legal action is being taken in the case. In Barabanki, Superintendent of Police (SP) Dinesh Kumar Singh said that the Ramnagar police station arrested two smugglers from Kishunpur turn on Monday and recovered 52 kg of illegal cannabis from his possession.
The SP said that the arrested accused have been identified as Pradeep Kumar Yadav and Sheelu Yadav. Both are residents of village Ramnagar in Fatehpur police station area of Barabanki district. The police have recovered 52 quintals of illegal cannabis from the possession of the accused. Apart from this, the truck being used in smuggling has also been seized. He said that the police have registered a case against both the accused under the Excise Act at Ramnagar police station.
