UP: There was panic after finding a cylinder on the railway track, the train stopped by applying emergency brakes.

There was a stir once again after finding something like a gas cylinder on a railway track in Uttar Pradesh. The train was stopped after a cylinder-like object was seen on the railway tracks between Govindpuri and Bhimsen stations. According to officials, on Sunday, the driver of another passenger train applied brakes after seeing a cylinder-like object on the railway tracks between Govindpuri and Bhimsen stations.

Additional Director General (Railways) Prakash D said, “The incident happened when the train was going from Mumbai to Lucknow at 4 am. It had just reached Govindpuri station when at around 4 am on Sunday the driver saw a cylinder on the track, which had Later, the train was stopped by applying emergency brakes. Seeing the cylinder, the loco pilot immediately informed the control room, but later it was found that the cylinder was a fire extinguisher of the railways.

‘There was no criminal intention behind this act’

The ADG said that railway officials jointly initiated the investigation with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) and found that there was no criminal intention behind the act. The findings further claimed that there is no external or other criminal involvement in this case.

The ADG said that an FIR has been lodged in the matter, in the investigation report the railway officials said that the fire protection cylinder was the property of the Railways and it was issued by the Section Engineer (Carriage and Wagon), Gorakhpur. It might have accidentally fallen from another train. Railway officials are on alert after recent similar incidents.

‘One accused caught’

Meanwhile, on Saturday, a 16-year-old boy was arrested for installing a fencing pole on the Banda-Mahoba railway track. Police said the driver of a passenger train had to apply emergency brakes to stop the train after seeing a concrete pillar on the tracks.

Apart from this, a train engine collided with a stone placed on the railway track in Ballia’s Bairia area on Saturday, officials said, adding that there was no damage in the incident.

RPF formed team

Officials said that RPF has formed a special team to solve the matter and patrolling is being done on the railway route. Meanwhile, the police has registered an FIR.

RPF Inspector VK Singh told PTI, “We believe that this has been done with the intention of derailing the train. The team’s current conclusion in this case is that some unknown person has placed the stone.”

At the same time, on September 8, an alleged attempt was made to derail the Kalindi Express going from Prayagraj to Bhiwani after an LPG cylinder was found on the tracks in Kanpur. Just a week ago, the loco pilot of a goods train also found an empty gas cylinder on the tracks near Prempur railway station. Both these incidents are being investigated.
