While 4 lakh Indian nationals have registered for repatriation to India, only 67833 of these are “specific” registrations where the registered person has completed all formalities and also paid up for his travel. Around 64 percent of these are students and Gulf-based migrant workers.
More than 25000 of those fully registered are also from Kerala.
Official sources said these are people who didn’t just say they wanted to return to India but also specified which place they wanted to return to and met all other conditions for repatriation. While the first week will see focus on the Gulf, which will account for 27 out of 64 return flights to India during this period, the second week will have India expanding its repatriation mission to Europe, central Asia and Russia. This will include countries like France, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine whe
