Why CSK Traded Ravindra Jadeja & Bought Sanju Samson: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) traded all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja (₹18 crore) and Sam Curran (₹2.4 crore) to Rajasthan Royals in exchange for wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson. In this way, Jadeja is returning to his first IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals after spending 11 seasons with CSK.

Now in a video interview, CSK MD Kasi Vishwanathan clarified that the step was taken after mutual discussions. He told that Jadeja played an important role in the 5 IPL titles that Chennai won. Meanwhile, Kashi Vishwanath also told why he was traded? He told the entire story in detail in the video.

Kashi also said that the fans will be very sad emotionally, because I have already received many messages from the fans. But keeping in mind the current structure of the team, CSK’s think tank felt the need for a change. And he has full confidence that CSK will maintain its same stability and excellent performance in the coming years also.

CSK MD Kashi Vishwanathan told why Sanju Samson was taken?
What Kashi Vishwanathan, popularly known as ‘Kashi Sir’, said in the video is as follows – Chennai Super Kings have traded Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to Rajasthan Royals in exchange for Sanju Samson. As a franchise, you know that over the years we have taken the trade route very rarely, only once when we took Robin Uthappa. The team management felt the need for a top order Indian batsman.

Since not many Indian batsmen are going to be available in the auction this time, we felt that the best way to bring an Indian top order batsman is through the trade window and that is why we had to take this decision.

Did CSK release Jadeja easily, how was his reaction?
Kashi Vishwanathan further said in the video that this decision has been taken completely by the team management and it was a very difficult decision to leave Jadeja. He has played an important role in the success of CSK for years. This is probably one of the most difficult decisions in the history of CSK.

But it is important that such decisions are taken only with the advice of the players. And this was done only after mutual consent. When I spoke to Jadeja, he was also clear. He told that as he is moving towards the end of his white-ball career, he is also feeling the need of a little break.

MD of CSK further said – We have some players who are in the last phase of their career and it is very important for CSK to build a team in the next few years, and since this is a mini auction, we will not be able to get the best Indian batsmen. It is also very difficult to replace an all-rounder like Jadeja, but we hope that we will be able to fill this gap by taking some good young players.

Why was Sam Curran traded to CSK?
In the next part of the video, Kashi Vishwanathan also talked about Sam Karan. He said- Sam Curran was with us in 2020, 2021 and 2025. He has been performing consistently well for us. It was a very difficult decision to leave both Sam Curran and Jadeja.

Why did CSK buy Samson, know the real reason
Kashi Vishwanathan said- Sanju is one of the most experienced IPL batsmen, has scored more than 4500 runs. And he has also captained Rajasthan Royals. He is only 30 years old, so we felt he would be a great addition to take charge of the future of CSK.
