Not long after the retirement of England’s opening batter Alex Hales on Friday, among his phony accounts on Twitter captured spotlight. Such was the post from the account that it triggered a battle on Twitter in between the India and Pakistan fans. Hales– who represented England in 11 Tests, 70 ODIs and 75 T20Is– revealed his retirement from worldwide cricket with instant impact. While the world cricket was sending out wholehearted messages to the star cricketer, a phony account on his name put a goodbye post taking a jibe at India.

“After an extraordinary journey on the pitch, it’s time to bid goodbye to this chapter of my life. Grateful for the memories, the friendship, and the love of the video game. Thank you all for your steadfast assistance! 170-0 is still among the most remarkable innings of my profession,” the post read.

It deserves keeping in mind that the Hales had actually scored 86 not out off 47 balls as England beat India by 10 wickets in a T20 World Cup semi-final match in 2015. At the end of the video game, England’s rating checked out 170-0 versus India’s 168-6.

While the tweet from the phony account provided the Pakistani fans a chance to have a good time, it was not removed well by their Indian equivalents. As an outcome, a war of words on Twitter broke.
