HYDERABAD: A video of the cricket stadium (RGICS) at Uppal that shows garbage and waste material, mostly whisky and beer bottles and plastic water bottles, strewn all over went viral on Wednesday. It drew instant condemnation from across quarters.

The stadium was the venue for a New Year eve bash that was organised by Thrive events.

It was such an eyesore that locals and morning walkers fumed at the organisers and also the party goers for irresponsibly littering the entire place and not making arrangements to clean the area of the stench.

“Why should the walkers or those heading to temples for an auspicious start to the year experience such hardships for some else’s mistakes? Authorities should take a serious note of this disgusting practice and deal sternly with all those responsible for creating the mess,” said B. Pratap from the nearby Chilka nagar.

Even as the Uppal stadium video went viral, some of the other littered main roads also exposed the lack of civic sense among people. The worst of these were the DLF road, the street food hub; the road connecting Madhapur (near metro station) with Durgam Cheruvu; the road from number 10 jubilee hills to number 5 JH (via Venkatagiri); Abids and Basheerbagh, to name a few. However, at these places, it was not liquor bottles but caused by cake boxes, plastic water bottles, cardboard boxes used to pack food, leftover food and empty chips packets.
