Best new hair tool: As Dyson unveils Airwrap Co-anda 2x for $999, here’s everything you need to know

Dyson has long been a game-changer in the tech world.

Think cult-favorite vacuums, bladeless fans, and best-selling heaters. The British tech giant is firmly cemented as a household name.

But since 2016, Dyson has also been making waves in the beauty space, starting with the launch of its first-ever hair tool: the Supersonic hair dryer.

Fast forward to today and there’s four incredible tools on offer, including the Corrale, AirStrait, and the sought-after Airwrap, which can take strands from air-dried to styled in just a matter of seconds.

Best known for its ability to dry, curl, wave and smooth hair, the Dyson Airwrap is easily one of the most popular tools on the market — and it’s just had a glow up.

A new version of the cult-tool has just arrived on Aussie shores, called the Airwrap Co-anda 2x.

Offering an even quicker drying and styling experience, the new device is smaller, lighter and even more powerful than its predecessor — and it contains a brand-new attachment.

At $999, it’s a serious splurge, so we did the homework to see if Dyson’s latest drop is actually worth it. You’re welcome.

Scroll through Instagram or TikTok, and you’ll quickly be flooded with beauty enthusiasts raving about this tool as their secret to achieving a salon-quality blowout at home.

Promising to transform strands safely — rather than by blasting excessive heat — Dyson’s Airwrap tech contains a high-speed airflow, naturally attracting and wrapping hair around the barrel attachments.

Unlike the original Airwrap, the Co-anda 2x uses a Hyperdymium motor to deliver twice the air pressure to wrap hair more easily, and “dries as fast as a full-performance hair dryer”.

Despite the significant boost in power, it remains surprisingly quiet while drying and styling.

There’s six attachments included, with one brand-new addition. Each contain Radio Frequency Identification chips too — which allow auto-adjusting settings to kick in once attachments are in place, ensuring optimal airflow and heat, for results that actually last.

Thanks to the MyDyson app, you can even enter your hair details (length, texture, and preferred styling look) to create your very own personalised curling sequence, ensuring great results every time.

Given its fast-drying ability, shoppers are even switching their regular dryers in favour of the new tool, saying they are “obsessed” with the powerful tech and believe it’s an “incredible invention.”

So is it worth the splurge? We think so.

For $999, you can style your hair in endless ways thanks to the six attachments, or even replace your exisiting straighter, dryer (or both).

And thanks to the powerful Hyperdymium motor and tech-savvy RFI chips, this new tool is essentially doing all the hard work for you.
