Biden-Harris Administration Announces New Round of Investments in Wildfire Protection through Community Wildfire Defense Grants

Neighborhood Wildfire Defense Grants enabled by President Biden’s Investing in America program

PORTLAND, Ore., July 31, 2023 — Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today revealed the Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service is once again accepting applications for the Community Wildfire Defense Grant program. Now in its 2nd year, this competitive program moneyed by President Biden’s historical Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is developed to help at-risk neighborhoods, consisting of Tribal neighborhoods, non-profit companies, state forestry firms and Alaska Native Corporations with preparing for and reducing wildfire threats. Applications will be accepted for 90 days.

The statement follows $197 million was granted to 99 job propositions throughout 22 states and 7 Tribes throughout the very first year of financing.
