Blake Lively Remembers ‘Gossip Girl’ Co-Star Michelle Trachtenberg: ‘She Was Electricity’

Lively shared a photo of the day she met Trachtenberg, writing, “The world lost a deeply sensitive and good person”

Following the death of Michelle Trachtenberg, who played the fan favorite antagonist Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl, her co-star Blake Lively shared a heartfelt tribute on social media remembering the actress’ kindness and dedication to her craft.

“This is the first day I met Michelle,” Lively wrote on her Instagram story, alongside a photo of them on the Gossip Girl set. “She was electricity. You knew when she entered a room because the vibration changed. Everything she did, she did 200%.”

Lively described Trachtenberg as someone who “laughed the fullest at someone’s joke” and “faced authority head on when she felt something was wrong.” She praised how her co-star “cared deeply about her work, she was proud to be a part of this community and industry as painful as it could be sometimes.” She said Trachtenberg remained “fiercely loyal to her friends and brave for those she loved,” while being “big and bold and distinctly herself.”

The Simple Favor actress also shared a fond memory of Trachtenberg, recalling how she always put on “caramel smelling lipgloss” because “she didn’t just want to sparkle on camera, she liked creating a nice experience for everyone who was in her orbit, even down to the subtle smell of her lipgloss because she cared about the sweet details.”

Lively ended her post with the reminder to “Hold those you love and have loved dear,” adding, “The world lost a deeply sensitive and good person in Michelle. May her work and her huge heart be remembered by those who were lucky enough to experience her fire.”

Trachtenberg died on Feb. 26 at the age of 39. The actress appeared in popular films and television during the Nineties and 2000s including Gossip Girl, Buffy the Vampire Slayer , and Harriet the Spy, her first major film role.

Among the many co-stars and colleagues sharing tributes to Trachtenberg, Chace Crawford, who also starred in the CW series, mourned the actress in an Instagram post. “Michelle was one of a kind,” said Crawford. “I remember her coming on set for the first time and just absolutely owning it. She was a force of nature and just so so unapologetically funny and magnetic.. remembering those years with a big smile. Just a terrible loss.”
