LONDON (Reuters) – Britain could strike the grim milestone of 20,000 COVID-19 deaths in the future Saturday, when the day-to-day count is added to the present toll of 19,506 individuals who checked favorable for the new coronavirus and died in healthcare facility.

As the death toll rises, the federal government is dealing with growing criticism over its action to the pandemic. It was slower to impose a lockdown than European peers and is struggling to raise its screening capacity.
Back in mid-March the federal government’s chief scientific adviser stated that keeping the death toll below 20,000 would be a “good result”.
