California seniors secure free dining establishment meals provided under new program

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – About 200 Los Angeles cooks are back at work, introducing a California job to utilize federal disaster relief money that pays restaurants to prepare and provide thousands of well balanced meals for at-risk seniors.

The program, called Great Plates Delivered, belongs to the state’s effort to reduce suffering inflicted by the coronavirus pandemic that has actually left a trail of death, joblessness and appetite in its wake.

Alba Molina, 57, a cold food preparation cook at downtown’s Westin Bonaventure hotel, is among the employees who mask up for task at the otherwise deserted residential or commercial property near the Los Angeles Convention.

” It’s assisting me pay my bills. It’s not just any job, it’s a great task with benefits,” Molina stated.

Next week, Molina and her colleagues at other dining establishments and hotels will turn out meals for almost 4,700 elders in the higher Los Angeles location. “I feel honored to be able to provide them this service,” Molina stated.
