HONG KONG (Reuters) – Hong Kong activists on Friday made online calls for a march against China’s strategies to enforce nationwide security legislation on the semi-autonomous city which many fear might erode its liberties and international standing as an international finance center.
While it was unclear whether the unauthorised march, proposed to begin at twelve noon near the main financial district and end at China’s Intermediary Office, will materialise, it was a sign that Hong Kong could quickly plunge into renewed unrest.
A previous effort to adopt comparable legislation in 2003 was consulted with a protest that drew around half a million people onto the streets
