Classes To Be Mostly Online At California State University Schools This Fall

California State University announced Tuesday that its 23 schools will officially be conducting classes online this fall semester, with a few possible exceptions, in action to the coronavirus pandemic.

CSU is the nation’s biggest four-year public university system, with around 480,000 students enrolled in schools that extend the state and consist of San Francisco State, Cal State Los Angeles, and San Diego State University.

Courses will be “mostly delivered virtually” throughout the fall term, Chancellor Timothy P. White said at Tuesday’s board of trustees meeting “Limited” exceptions might be made for classes that can’t be done online, such as medical sessions for nursing trainees or labs for trainees in the sciences, he said.

” Our university, when open without restrictions and completely in-person, as the traditional standard of the past, is a location where over 500,000 people come together in close and dynamic proximity to each other on a daily basis. That approach unfortunately just isn’t in the cards now,” White stated.

The chancellor mentioned the “health and safety and welfare” of trainees, workers and regional neighborhoods as a concern in the decision
