‘ I seem like we’re being bribed into returning to school’
Independent and Catholic Schools are being provided $3 billion dollars in financial incentives to have trainees back in the classroom by June.
The Federal government states the schools will receive advance payments of their yearly financing if they open their doors and devote to having half their trainees at school.
But Jim Laussen, the head of Overnewton Anglican Neighborhood College in Melbourne, states he is being required to decide in between the monetary health of the school, and the security of personnel and students.
” I feel like we’re being paid off into returning to school,” Mr Lawson told ABC Radio Melbourne.
” We found out about this last night and I have to make a decision by Friday.
” Prior to that I have to consult with my management group, my board, I need to talk to my personnel and see how they feel about coming back on June 1, whether they feel safe enough.”
Victoria is presently in a state of emergency situation up until May 11, and the State Federal government has actually recommended that from term 2, “all students who can learn from home must find out in your home”.
” I frantically want to return too however I need to understand whether it’s safe for my staff to do so in particular, which seems to be the fact that’s missed in all of this conversation,” Mr Laussen said.
