The Red Cross has stated it is carrying out numerous welfare checks a day on those in self-isolation, but that even if they confess to flouting the direction to stay at home it will not “dob people in”.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the Federal government understood people not following official directions to self-isolate.

” We are hearing reports of some who are saying they’re in self-isolation, and they’re out and about,” he said in his address.

” Self-isolation means self-isolation.”

Self-isolation a ‘civic responsibility’

Chief Medical Officer Brendan Murphy said many Australians were still returning house from overseas, including some at high threat of importing the virus into the country.

” This problem of quarantining when you get home is severe,” Dr Murphy stated.
