Video calling apps have taken off like never before and Zoom is one of them that has become the talk of the tech town. Every company has been tweaking its apps to counter Zoom and now Facebook has introduced new features to take on Zoom. The social media platform announced that it is rolling out new products, including Messenger Room, a tool that will allow 50 people to video call at the same time.

Messenger Rooms will be rolled out this week in some countries and expand to the rest of the world in the coming weeks. The room creator will have control over who to add and whether to make it open for all. Users will be able to start a room directly from the Messenger or Facebook app. Facebook said that it has plans to bring the rooms feature to Instagram Direct, WhatsApp and even Portal. If you use an Apple device, here’s an important ‘warning’. A new text bomb is crashing iPhones, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac. This string of characters includes Italian flag emoji and some Sindhi characters.

According to a report by 9to5Mac, users have reported receiving this string of text as notification on their Apple devices. On iPhones, the bug is said to affect those running the latest iOS13.4.1.

As per the report, ‘’When an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch receives a notification with this text string, things get wonky. Sometimes, your device will crash, while other times it completely stops responding to touch input, and much more.’’

As per an update to the report, a patch has already been rolled out to devices running the latest iOS 13.4.5 beta. This reveals that Apple is aware of the issue, and a fix for other devices may be on the way soon. Click here for the full story.

Video calling app Zoom has seen unprecedented popularity during the present lockdown and has riddled with some privacy issues too. As per an official blog post, Zoom is upgrading to the AES 256-bit GCM encryption standard. In other words, users’ meeting data will be more secure and kept confidential. It is expected that the new feature will come within this week.

Zoom is making it easier for its users to access the security features. “Zoom’s security features, which had previously been accessed throughout the meeting menus, will now be grouped together and found by clicking the Security icon in the meeting menu bar on the host’s interface,” noted the company blog post.
