Farmers’ foot march to Delhi tomorrow, farmer leader Pandher said

The agitating farmers will again march towards Delhi from Shambhu border tomorrow i.e. on Sunday. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said that today 299 days of our protest have been completed, and tomorrow we will complete 300 days. Today we met injured farmers, one of whom has lost his hearing. He said that 16 farmers were injured in the clash with Haryana Police on Friday (6 December) at Shambhu border and if we include the minor injured also, this number could be around 25.

Press conference of SKM (non-political) and KMM was held today at Shambhu border. In this, Pandher said that till now we have not received any information from the Central Government, tomorrow once again a delegation of 101 farmers will march towards Delhi at around 12 noon.

Farmer leader Pandher said that this protest has exposed the real face of the government, we are no longer using tractors and trolleys, but we are still not being allowed to come to Delhi.

Regarding the statement of Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, he said that we are not even being given compensation for the loss caused by our crops. But he (Shivraj Singh) is announcing MSP. The whole situation is confusing and unclear.

A ‘jatha’ of 101 farmers, following a call given by farmer unions Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, on Friday marched from the Shambhu border at 1 pm to press for various demands, including a legal guarantee for the minimum support price (MSP). Had traveled to Delhi.

Farmers clash with Haryana Police

Meanwhile, the Haryana Police asked the farmers not to move ahead and cited the imposition of prohibitory orders by the Ambala administration under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS), which prohibits illegal gathering of five or more people in the district. There is a ban on happening. During this time the farmers tried to forcibly cross the barricades, but they were stopped. Security personnel fired several tear gas shells to disperse the protesting farmers and force them to return to their protest site in Punjab’s Shambhu. One of the protesters climbed onto the roof of a tin shed, where security forces were deployed.

Police released tear gas shells on farmers

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher had said on Friday evening that many farmers have been injured due to the firing of tear gas shells. Two were seriously injured. He accused the Haryana government of “atrocities against farmers”. Farmer leader Surjit Singh Phul is also among the injured. Farmer leaders said that the injured were taken to the hospital in an ambulance parked at the protest site.

Police said- No one responsible was seen in the ‘group’

At the same time, Haryana Police said that the protesting farmers created a ruckus and tried their best to break the police barricades installed on the border of Haryana. No responsible farmer leader was seen in the ‘jatha’, he claimed, adding that some protesters were “violent”. Police have also shared some pictures, in which farmers are shown creating ruckus. Haryana Inspector General of Police (Ambala Range) Sibash Kabiraj said that in view of the call of Punjab farmers to march to Delhi, elaborate security arrangements were made, full preparations were made by the police administration to deal with any untoward incident. This group of farmers consisted of more than 101 farmers, some of whom were violent as well. They repeatedly tried their best to break the police barricades by tying chains on the iron nets of the police barricades and created ruckus. No responsible farmer leader was visible in this group.
