A lawyer for Hushpuppi (visualized) says the United States had no authority to transport him from Dubai.
Ramon Olorunwa Abbas – understood to his 2.5 million Instagram fans as Ray Hushpuppi – and another cyber-heist suspect Olalekan Jacob Ponle (aka Mr Woodberry) were apprehended in Dubai, where they lived, in June.
The United Arab Emirates has no extradition treaty with the United States however Dubai cops stated they had been extradited to the United States.
A spokesperson for the US Department of Justice informed the BBC that Hushpuppi was expelled from Dubai and was not extradited.
” In my viewpoint, the FBI and the government here acted illegally when they kidnapped him from Dubai without any legal procedure to do so,” Mr Pissetzky informed the BBC.
But the Dubai authorities stated in a Facebook post that the FBI director had thanked them for extraditing the two guys.
