Fuel supply worries for seaside SA town ahead of summer season traveler increase

Authorities firmly insist Robe will have sufficient fuel pumps to service an increase of travelers over summer season, regardless of the closure of the town’s last staying devoted filling station.

The Caltex on Main Road in Robe, on South Australia’s south-east coast, closed in the middle of 2022, leaving one alternative for fuel in the town at a regional store– Robe Auto and Marine.

The store has 6 bowsers: 2 premium unleaded pumps, 2 routine unleaded, and 2 diesel.

One pump will be available 24 hours a day with a pay-at-the-pump service, while the owner of Robe Auto and Marine will extend the shop’s hours so it opens at 6am and closes at 8pm.

Robe District Council president James Holyman stated the council was assisting another fuel provider, K&S, to establish in town.
