Google is to openly track individuals’s motions over the course of the coronavirus pandemic.
The tech firm will release details of the various kinds of places people are going to on a county-by-county basis in the UK, in addition to similar information for 130 other countries.
The strategy is to release a regular updates with the figures referring back to activity from two or 3 days prior.
The company has guaranteed that people’ personal privacy will be maintained.
The readings are based upon location information collected through the Google Maps app or one of the company’s other mobile services.
The firm generally uses this to reveal when particular museums, shops and other places are busiest in addition to revise driving paths to assist motorists prevent traffic.
In this case, the readings will be broken down to expose how busy the following types of locations are compared to a duration earlier in the year prior to lockdowns were introduced:
- retail and recreation
- grocery and pharmacy
- parks, beaches and plazas
- bus, subway and train stations
- office bui
