Recently, Google made the powerful security decision to time out Chrome updates in the middle of the growing COVID-19 crisis. In a statement via its blog today (March 26) Google said it will be resuming releases as it released an upgraded schedule.
When Google paused Chrome updates last week, it was unclear when Chrome 81– due to release last Tuesday– would be released. Google said in the announcement when delaying the release that it required to do so to guarantee it could focus on security as an increasing variety of workers work from home throughout COVID-19
The web browser maker also wanted to make sure that engineers aren’t distracted from securing Chrome as they struggle to fix bugs and security problems that tend to develop in addition to a brand-new release.
