We require to break the cycle of violence.
On the early morning of October 7, I got up around 7:30 am to discover a message on our household WhatsApp group from my moms and dads discussing that they heard sirens and moved into their safe space. As they typically deal with hazards and hear sirens where they live, I wasn’t right away fretted.
I made my early morning coffee and switched on the news. This is when I found out that Hamas was invading Israeli towns and ended up being anxious. I instantly called my dad. It was 7:35 am. He got and informed me, “Yes, Maoz we remain in the safe space. We hear them shooting. That’s it.”
I called them once again 10 minutes later on, simply after 7:45 am. Neither my daddy nor my mom got. I’ve not spoken with them once again.
Now, I am a peace activist.
Possibly it was not what I was suggested to be, however that’s what the death of my moms and dads made me. There is an understanding in my household that we need to keep our moms and dads’ tradition.
My moms and dads were individuals of peace. They did not appreciate anybody’s race, age or colour. They dealt with everybody similarly, they dealt with everybody as they wished to be dealt with. They were individuals of hope. I ended up being a peace activist to keep alive their tradition.
Today, Israel is duplicating an old error it made lot of times in the last century. We should stop it. Vengeance is not going to bring my moms and dads back to life. It is not going to revive other Israelis and Palestinians eliminated either.
It is going to do the opposite. It is going to trigger more casualties. It is going to bring more death.
We need to break the cycle.
Today, I am sobbing for everybody, each and every single human being suffering since of this bloody cycle.
I’m versus blame video games– I’m versus efforts to identify who has more victims, who is suffering one of the most.
We are all suffering. Let’s concentrate on stopping the suffering.
Let’s stop this war.
