( Reuters) – A viral claim by a conservative activist group that voter registration numbers in Iowa are suspiciously big ahead of the first U.S. governmental nominating contest on Monday is incorrect, a senior state federal government official stated, and contacted the group to end its “misinformation campaign.”

Iowa’s Secretary of State Paul Crown, a Republican politician, stated the claim by Washington D.C.-based group Judicial Watch that total registration numbers for caucuses in eight Iowa counties were bigger than the qualified voter population had actually been disproven by main data.
