Letter from the Editor: Your mental health matters

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Taking care of our psychological health and well-being is necessary at any time, but right now, it feels more crucial than ever.

Be it adapting to working from house, finding out how to become an instructor and a moms and dad, or refraining from seeing loved ones, we’ve all had to alter our usual way of life in one way or another, and it’s been hard.

So, how are you doing? Previously this month, we took to our social channels to learn how you’re feeling and what is helping you cope throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many of you stated that you were feeling disconnected from your loved ones, others mentioned the fear of losing their tasks, and a few of you expressed grief after losing enjoyed ones.

Those of you with existing mental health conditions also discussed the difficulties you’re dealing with. “The whole thing has actually activated my mental health conditions– anxiety, stress and anxiety, complex PTSD, and OCD. I’m discovering everything quite tough,” said one reader.

When it comes to what is helping you cope, exercising frequently and getting outside were at the top of the list. “We are permitted 3 hours for any activity, either alone or with another person,” a reader in Greece told us. “I use this alternative to head out every day for a run. Physically and mentally, I feel extremely great.”
